Cutimed® PROTECT | Spray

Cutimed® PROTECT Spray is a liquid skin protectant. Sprayed on as a liquid, it forms a durable, waterproof barrier film, creating a protective barrier that prevents skin irritation due to adhesive products, shearing forces, or bodily waste and fluids. For use on intact or irritated skin. Should not be used on infected wounds.

Intended Purpose

Indications: Cutimed® PROTECT Spray is supplied as a liquid and intended for use as a film-forming product. When applied to intact or irritated skin the product forms a durable, waterproof barrier that works as a protective shield between the skin and bodily waste, fluids, adhesive products and shearing forces. The product is designed to serve as a primary barrier against irritation from bodily fluids. 

Wear time : Provides a barrier for up to 96 hours.

How to use

1. Clean and dry the affected area before applying Cutimed® PROTECT Spray.
2. Hold the spray nozzle at a distance of 10 – 15 cm (4 – 6 inches) from the skin and apply a smooth, even coating of film over the desired area by applying the spray in a sweeping motion. Cover the wound or damaged skin temporarily in order to avoid direct spray application e.g. use a swab.
3. If an area is missed during the first application, allow Cutimed® PROTECT Spray to dry (approximately 30 seconds) and then apply again only to the desired area. When applying Cutimed® PROTECT Spray to areas with skin folds or areas where skin touches skin, make sure that these areas are sufficiently exposed to air to allow the film to fully dry.
Using the product under adhesive tape, dressings or devices:
A: Allow Cutimed® PROTECT Spray to fully dry before covering the area with a dressing or adhesive products.
B: Cutimed® PROTECT Spray needs to be re-applied each time the dressing and/or adhesive products is/are changed; most adhesives will remove the barrier film.
Using the product for protection from bodily fluids, faeces or urine etc. without other adhesive products being applied to the skin:
A: it is recommended to re-apply Cutimed® PROTECT Spray every 24 – 96 hours, depending on how often the area is cleaned.
B: in extreme cases (e.g. chronic diarrhea) which involves very frequent skin cleansing, it may be necessary to re-apply the product more frequently (i.e. every 12 – 24 hours).
4. Replace the cap over the spray nozzle when not in use.
How to remove
If desired, the film can be removed with most medical adhesive removers following the directions of the manufacturer. Cleanse and dry the area and then re-apply Cutimed® PROTECT Spray. Cutimed® PROTECT Spray shall be applied by healthcare professionals only.
